Safeguarding at Phoenix

The Designated Safeguarding Lead is
Mrs C Wilde (Assistant Headteacher).

The Designated Safeguarding Deputy is
Mr J Samuel (Assistant Headteacher).

The named Governor for Safeguarding is Mr Leigh Pepper.

Safeguarding at The Phoenix Collegiate is given top priority.  All adults in our school have a responsibility for Safeguarding Children.

Safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm - safe from bullying, safe from people who could abuse, safe from discrimination or harassment - and that we all feel safe in our environment.

If your child is ever concerned about safety or well-being or about a friend, they should talk to someone such as a parent or a member of staff at school.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs C Wilde (Assistant Headteacher).

The Designated Safeguarding Deputy is Mr J Samuel (Assistant Headteacher).

These staff have both completed Intermediate Level Safeguarding Training or higher, led by the LSCB (Local Safeguarding Children Board).  They complete further training every 2 years.

All staff (teachers, teaching assistants, lunchtime assistants, admin staff, student support staff, site team and governors) have completed Level 2 Safeguarding training. Those staff who join the school after the start of the academic year complete the same training programme as part of their induction. Additionally, each September all staff complete a comprehensive online refresher course.

The named Governor for Safeguarding is Mr Leigh Pepper.

All staff recruitment panels include at least one person who has completed appropriate 'Safer Recruitment in Education' training.

All adults (staff and visitors) in school are required to wear Phoenix Collegiate Identification Badge, and all visitors must sign in at the school office, where they will be required to read a copy of the visitor code of conduct.

All staff, governors, students and volunteers undertake an enhanced DBS check and staff DBS details are kept in a Single Central Record in school.

The Safeguarding Policy (and related policies) form a central part of the Staff Induction process, and all of these policies are reviewed annually. (For more details, please read the Safeguarding Policy –available under the policies tab of the website)

We believe that it is important to make children and young people aware of behaviour towards them that is not acceptable, and our PSHE and curriculum supports children in recognising when their personal safety is being compromised. The school also signposts access to support for students, by displaying contact telephone numbers within their planners.

We are committed to multi-agency working, in order to ensure the best possible outcomes for all of the students at The Phoenix Collegiate.
