In line with our vision for all students to aspire, believe and succeed and be prepared for life after school, we aim to provide opportunity for all students to gain knowledge and skills connected to effective money management and financial capability. Our aim is to help our young people understand more about money and their own personal finances. Students experience learning activities designed to provide them with the confidence they need to manage their money and make sound financial choices. Children experience Financial Education teaching through both a series of contextualised lessons and Student Enrichment Days in KS3, KS4 and KS5.
Phoenix Collegiate has been awarded a ‘Centre of Excellence’ status for successfully embedding Financial Education into our curriculum. The school has achieved this status through ‘Young Money’ (the Governments’ trusted provider of knowledge, resources and support for schools that teach children about money).
Over a period of time Phoenix has developed strong relationships with various financial related institutions such as Santander, West Bromwich Building Society, Lloyds Bank and Experian UK. Representatives from these establishments visit Phoenix and deliver teaching and information sharing sessions to students.
We encourage parents/carers to support us by providing practical advice and tips to their children regarding their finances whilst they are at home. Click here for a list of practical suggestions and topics of conversations that could take place between you and your child.
